“And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19 NKJV
Today is my two year anniversary! Two years ago today, I closed on my home.
It was such an exciting day for me. Alas, the very home of my dreams – and just after signing my name, seemingly one hundred times — the dream home was all mine!! This wasn’t just any home. It was in a brand new community that I first checked out in 2008 when they started breaking ground and building. I remember going into the two model homes at that time, and it just felt like home. However, at that point, I wasn’t ready to buy.
Two years later, in 2010, I went back to the development because I was then in the market to buy my first home. And it was so beautiful! Roads that weren’t there before were now in existence and the model homes were now two of their larger models. I remember going to the model home and I was in there by myself because the salesmen went to show a couple another house that they were building across the street.
As I walked into the drop-dead-fabulous home — it REALLY felt like home! The walls were painted burnt orange and soft yellow throughout the house — so warm and fuzzy! The downstairs was decorated in a “jazz” theme and I was totally in love. As I continued going through the house on my tour, I thought, whoever gets this house is going to be incredibly lucky! It had all of the bells & whistles.
I remember telling my realtor that I wanted to live in THAT community and on the side of the development where the clubhouse is. She insisted that I’d have to buy a home on the other side of the community, across the road, where they were still building. But something just felt right about what I was requesting.
Long story short, I remember the day that the new sales agent sent me an email to tell me that the model homes were now on the market and available for sale! I was there the next day, writing a check for the deposit! They told me that they needed to keep it as a model for a few more months until they finished setting up their new model home across the street (where I didn’t want to live). Okay – fine with me.
At any rate, I went to closing on December 20th, 2010 – and just 8 days later – (eight days!) – I had lost my job through no fault of my own. Yikes! Now what?! I just wrote the largest check of my life (so far) at the settlement table.
Well, I serve a faithful God who promised to supply all of my needs. As I remembered that today is my 2 year anniversary, I began to reflect on God’s faithful throughout those 2 years. I was unemployed for the first six months of living in my dream house. And wouldn’t you know, I have NEVER missed a mortgage payment! NEVER missed an electric bill payment! NEVER missed a home owners association fee payment! NEVER missed a gas bill payment! NEVER missed ANY payments!
No one BUT God could have done that!
And IF He’s brought me out before, I know that WHATEVER comes my way — He’ll bring me out again – because He’s faithful!
Thank you JESUS!!!!
