This past Saturday, I was the guest speaker at the Women’s Fellowship at my Mother’s church, Shield of Faith Christian Center in Maryland.
I’ve spoken at other churches before, but usually as one of many speakers. However, this time — I was the Guest Speaker. I recall asking the coordinator of the fellowship what she wanted me to speak on and she just said, “Whatever the Lord lays on your heart.” Then I thought to myself, “Does she want me to preach?!” I had never preached a sermon before, but I was up to the challenge because God has been up to something really good in my life and I knew that I had to share it with others.
There were about 20 or 25 women there, in all age ranges. I had just finished my fourth book, “Inspired to Move Forward” – although it doesn’t come out until later on this month, the Lord was impressing upon me to share from it. So I did.
I shared how Joseph (in the Bible) went through some good times, some bad times, and sure enough – some ugly times. Yet, God was with him, working behind the scenes to get him to fulfill his destiny in the Lord. I also shared about Job and how he, just like David, learned to encourage himself when everything had gone wrong and it even seemed like God wasn’t speaking to him anymore. Does anyone know what I’m talking about? *Raising my own hand.*
The theme of my message was that no matter what you’re going through, no matter how bad everything around you looks, God will NOT let His Word fail. And if you can stand on His promises, then you can rest in Him, knowing that He’s up to something and working out all of the details — for your GOOD!
“And we know that IN all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.”
Romans 8:28 New International Version (NIV)
All things mean just that — ALL THINGS – the good, the bad and the ugly.
I was incredibly blessed by the response! All of the women there told me how much they needed to hear that, some of them with tears in their eyes. Days later, I was still receiving messages from those in attendance who said how blessed they were by my message and how much they enjoyed the fellowship. God is so good! I blessed them and they blessed me. That’s how the kingdom of God works!
Be encouraged, the Lord is up to something REAL good!
