Ahhhh…. the first day of being snowed in during the Blizzard of 2010. There’s currently over 20 inches on the ground and the weather reports are calling for another 3-5 inches over the next few hours. Again, this is just the FIRST day of being snowed in. What’s a person to do, especially when you have a lot to do?! How ironic.
First, I need to step away from the potato chips! Next, I’m going to play some music from my iPod to find some energy and/or inspiration to tackle my to do list. Afterall, I have to emerge from “hunkering down” with something completed! Okay, the music isn’t helping.
Oh, wait, I’ve got it! I’m going into too many different directions because my “to do” list is in my head and not on paper! I know better than this.
A study that was recently done at the Harvard Business School; over a 25 year period with 1,600 businesses surveyed found that:
* 70% of the businesses in the study had NO written or verbal plan
* 27% of the businesses in the study had verbal goals ONLY
* 3% of the businesses in the study had their goals WRITTEN DOWN
98% OF THE WEALTH WAS HELD BY THE 3% OF THE BUSINESSES THAT HAD WRITTEN GOALS!!
