I recently heard on the news that scientist have “found” 178,000,000 (that’s one-hundred, seventy-eight MILLION) new stars just in the Milky Way alone! Wow, that’s mind-boggling!
Well, I’m here to tell you that the stars were never lost. 🙂 There’s so much to God’s creation that mankind is yet to discover. Genesis 1:16 tells us that God made the stars right after He created the sun and the moon. However, it says it like the stars were an afterthought. It plain and simply reads, “He made the stars also.”
I was so intrigued when I heard the news report about this newly found stars that I began to read about the Milky Way. Wikipedia says that there could be up to 400 BILLION stars in the Milky Way. Four Hundred Billion – just imagine! And yet, that’s considered small potatoes as the neighboring GALAXY known as the Andromeda Galaxy may have up to a TRILLION stars! Oh my!! And guess what? There are other galaxies that mankind hasn’t even discovered yet! How awesome is the Lord?
The next time you feel as though God has forgotten about you, or that you don’t matter that much to Him, consider this; Psalm 147:4 says that God counts all of the stars (He knows how many there are) — AND He calls them all by name! Yet, stars aren’t made in God’s own image – you are! Nor did Jesus die the brutal death of the cross to redeem stars back to God. He died to redeem YOU back to God!
John 10 says that Jesus has called His own people by their name. Romans 8 says all things work together for good for those who have been CALLED according to His purpose. It then goes on to say that whom God foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of Christ. And whom He predestined, He also called. And whom He called He also justified. And whom He justified, He also glorified.
So, not only are you called by your name, but you’re also foreknown by God, and He’s predestined you, and He’s justified you, and He’s glorified you!
